How many hours can an intern work in Malaysia?

My intern hasn't been completing his tasks on a daily basis, so I requested him to work an extra 2 hours to finish his work. However, he questioned me back, asking about the maximum hours interns can work in Malaysia. Are interns allowed to work 40 hours per week, the same as full-time employees?
